What started as a modest initiative has blossomed into a vital resource, providing essentials to individuals and families who find themselves in challenging circumstances. In the heart of the community lies a humble yet powerful haven, where shelves are stocked not just with cans and perishables, but with hope and compassion.

The "Charlotte Tillerson's Pantry quietly serves as a lifeline for many families facing food insecurity in the neighborhood. Mrs.Tillerson, a Teacher Consultant helped create the pantry during the pandemic.

"We Work to provide what is needed such as food, clothing, or job opportunities.  Sometimes our students are hungry when they arrive at school, so we provide them with a snack to help them stay focused on their school work " said Tillerson.

On April 26, 2024 community supporter Covington Insurance Agency donated $1,000 to support the pantry and its goals. "Supporting the community is the best investment anyone can make to grow strong families and partnerships, Mr. Covington said". Covington Insurance Agency has been serving Ypsilanti residents for over 20 years. The office is located at 880 S. Grove Road.

State Senator Jeff Irwin and State Representative Jimmie Wison Jr. were present to tour the pantry and listen to the vision, goals, and partnerships needed to move the pantry forward.

Partnerships like Food Gathers continue to support by bringing fresh food monthly. LeRonica Roberts, Community Food Program Manager of Food Gathers said, " I can see how the donation impacts the families we serve in Washtenaw County.

The Tillerson pantry is a place not only to receive assistance but also to acquire skills needed for a healthier lifestyle.  You are invited to take tour Monday- Friday 10:00 am -1:00 pm
