Small but Mighty! Western Cowgirls Serve Up Power, Pride and School Spirit Against Mumford Mustangs
Family Views Sports | Celebrating Student Athletes, Family and Community
If you think you have to be tall to win on the volleyball court, think again! The Western High School Cowgirls proved that heart, hustle, teamwork and determination can make all the difference when they faced off against the Mumford Mustangs.
The Cowgirls brought plenty of power to the court, delivering an exciting performance that kept the crowd on its feet. With every serve, set and return, these young athletes showed that success isn't measured by height but by the size of your heart, your willingness to work together and your determination to keep the ball in play.
The energy in the gym was contagious as family members and friends gathered to cheer on their favorite players. The excitement went beyond the game itself. It was a celebration of young athletes working hard, building confidence and representing their school with pride.

Among those cheering from the sidelines was proud grandmother Veronica Beard, who traveled all the way from Baltimore, Maryland, to watch her granddaughter Leann Lewis play.
For Veronica, the trip was about more than volleyball. It was about showing up for the young people she loves and letting them know that their family is behind them every step of the way.
“This is how we support our grandchildren. We are always there to support them,” Beard shared.
Her words captured the heart of the day. Behind every student athlete is often a family member, friend or mentor who makes sacrifices to be present, offer encouragement and celebrate every achievement, big or small.
Whether traveling hundreds of miles or cheering from the bleachers close to home, these supporters remind young athletes that they are never playing alone.

The Cowgirls' matchup against the Mumford Mustangs was a reminder that high school sports are about much more than the final score. They teach discipline, teamwork, resilience and the importance of believing in yourself—even when the odds seem challenging. They walked off the court as winners!
And for the Cowgirls, one thing was clear: you don't have to be the tallest player on the court to make a big impact.
Family Views celebrates the student athletes who give their best, the families who stand behind them and the communities that show up to cheer them on. Because sometimes the biggest victories happen not only on the scoreboard, but in the memories made, the confidence gained and the love shared from the stands.
Keep serving, Cowgirls! Your community is cheering you on!
