Hello Food Gatherers Partners,
This is a reminder that our Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) for kids is kicking off soon! My name is Abby Gardner, and I am the Community Outreach and Engagement Intern at Food Gatherers. I’m reaching out because we’re hoping that you can continue helping us spread the word about the Summer Food Service Program for kids!
We need your help promoting our Summer Food Service Program - Grab and Go option for families with kids!
What is Grab and Go?
This summer the We call this the "Grab and Go" model. Please note these site details below:
- Each site will distribute 7 breakfasts and 7 lunches once per week for each child.
- The sites will provide meals to children 18 and under only.
- Children do not have to be present to receive meals.
- Proxy pickup is allowed (picking up food for other children).
- Individuals up to ages 26 who are enrolled in state recognized education programs are also eligible.
- Please note that dates and times are subject to change. Please contact the site or visit www.foodgatherers.org/summerfood or call (734)761-2796 for up-to-date listings.
- All sites will be closed on June 19th (Juneteenth) and July 3rd (Independence Day).
How can you help? Please share our flyer with the community!
Suggested ways to get the word out:
- Print and post the flyer in high visibility areas like info boards
- Include the flyer in an email newsletter
- Post your flyer on your website in your community resources section
- Re-share social media posts (be sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and X). Summer Food posts will come out closer to the start of the program.
- Michigan Department of Education approved our SFSP sites in rural areas to provide non-congregate meals, meaning that families can take the food home for their kids to eat.
Here are this year's flyers in English, Spanish, and Arabic in pdf format for your convenience, including site information: dates, times, and contact information. This can also be found on our website. Please reach out to us if you need flyers in additional languages.
If you have any questions or would like more information please reach out to summerfood@foodgathers.org.
Best, Abby Gardner
