The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently issued a recall of more than a dozen brands of organic carrots distributed by Grimmway Farms across North America, including stores in Massachusetts.

Grimmway Farms voluntarily recalled the product on Nov. 16 due to possible E. coli contamination.

So far, there have been 39 reported illnesses in association with this outbreak, with cases in Massachusetts. To avoid getting E. coli poisoning, the FDA urges consumers to check labels and dispose of any affected products. Items and surfaces that may have touched the recalled carrots should be washed using hot soapy water or a dishwasher.
