UNITED WAY AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO CELEBRATE MAKERSPACE UNVEILING AT PONTIAC ACADEMY OF EXCELLENCE
WHAT: United Way for Southeastern Michigan, along with BorgWarner, Tata Technologies, Tech United sponsors, and community volunteers, will unveil the new state-of-the-art Makerspace at Pontiac Academy of Excellence. The innovative STEM hub will provide K-5 students with hands-on learning opportunities, encouraging creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.
WHEN: Tuesday, December 10, 2024; Ribbon-cutting ceremony begins at 10:00 a.m.
WHERE: Pontiac Academy of Excellence, 196 Cesar E. Chavez Avenue, Pontiac, MI 48342
WHY: This Makerspace is a vibrant new learning environment equipped with cutting-edge tools and technology, including 3D printers, laser engravers, and a LEGO wall. Designed to inspire students’ curiosity and equip them with essential STEM skills, this space is a testament to the power of collaboration between businesses, educators, and community members.
This Makerspace aligns with United Way’s mission to ensure children thrive and households become stable, offering students real-world opportunities to explore STEM careers and build confidence for their future.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Interactive and Hands-On Activities: K-5 students will engage in STEM-based learning experiences, exploring the new tools and technologies in the Makerspace.
