YPSILANTI, Mich. (Feb. 4, 2025) --- Applied Innovation returns to the Kalitta Motorsports family of corporate partners in 2025 looking for additional success in the new season, the team announced today. The 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series begins March 7-9, 2025 at the Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla.
Applied Innovation will be the primary partner for 2023 NHRA Top Fuel champion Doug Kalitta’s dragster for the special pre-season event set for Feb. 6-8, 2025 in Bradenton, Fla., and the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series event in Norwalk, Ohio June 27-29, 2025. Applied will also be a co-primary partner with Kalitta Air on Shawn Langdon’s Top Fuel dragster at the Cornwell Quality Tools U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis Aug. 29-Sept. 1, 2025. Kalitta is the defending champion of this week’s second-annual SCAG PRO Superstar Shootout.
“Our relationship with Kalitta Motorsports helps us tell the Applied Innovation story,” Applied Innovation owner John Lowery said. “We opened our Indianapolis location last year and look forward to exposing that market to the Applied Innovation brand when we join Shawn’s team for the U.S. Nationals. We’re thrilled to be back on Doug’s car for two races this season and hope to help Doug and his team get the season started with a Florida win like they did last year. The Kalitta folks are real pros, and we’re proud to be back with them again this season.”
Applied Innovation serves customers in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Florida with managed and co-managed IT and Help Desk services. Applied was founded as a printer, copier and fax company in 1987. Today, the company is a full-fledged, office-technology provider having recently opened its first Indianapolis location. Applied’s technology services and solutions are designed not only to improve its clients’ business but also the lives of the people working within them.
“Applied Innovation is major supporter of everything we do at Kalitta Motorsports,” Team Kalitta General Manager Chad Head said. “They manage all our printing, networking and IT needs so the service they provide literally keeps us racing, but they also show their support at the race track. They’re one of our corporate partners, but they also attend quite a few races. More than that, they’re our friends, and we’d like nothing more than to enjoy another winner’s circle celebration with them this season.”
Kalitta captured his first NHRA Top Fuel title in 2023 winning three of the six races in the Countdown to the Championship NHRA Playoffs. He followed his championship with a second-consecutive three-win season and finished second in points in 2024 – it was the seventh runner-up finish in his career, and it extended his string of consecutive top-10 points finishes to 27. Kalitta will begin his 2025 campaign next month in Gainesville, Fla., along with his teammates, 2018 NHRA Funny Car champion J.R. Todd and 2013 NHRA Top Fuel champion Shawn Langdon.
