Ypsilanti Press advocates Education of Diabetes

As we begin a new year, we look back on 2023 with gratefulness for a year of accomplishments benefitting people with diabetes and prediabetes. American Diabetes Association® (ADA) Advocates from across the country raised their voices with us for important policy changes including:

  • secured more affordable insulin
  • increased access to continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) for seniors, veterans, and Medicaid beneficiaries
  • secured federal funding for diabetes research and prevention programs
  • spear-headed and supported legislation at the federal and state levels to prevent diabetes and diabetes related complications that impact millions of Americans

Collectively, the ADA's Advocates opened and took action on over 1 million Action Alerts driving for positive policy changes! Every single Member of Congress and thousands of state legislators across the U.S. heard from ADA Advocates. Together, we were able to make a personal impact on our nation's elected officials.

The ADA's advocacy team continues to drive legislation that will improve health outcomes and reduce health care costs for individuals living with or at risk for diabetes. In 2023, we achieved great successes including securing lower costs for insulin and increasing access to continuous glucose monitors (CGM) for seniors and the nation's most vulnerable on state Medicaid programs.

As an ADA Advocate, you are critical to the work we do. Thank you for your continued passion and dedication to advocating with us. We couldn't accomplish this work without you.

Best wishes for a prosperous and healthy 2024. We look forward to a great year ahead!

Sincerely,

Lisa Murdock
