Freighthouse eighth residency, September 10–27, 2026

We are thrilled to announce that UMS is returning to the historic Ypsilanti Freighthouse for its eighth residency, September 10–27, 2026 — featuring events curated with everyone in mind.

In support of UMS's commitment to accessibility, nearly all performances are pay-what-you-wish (minimum $5 advance), with free community events and K–12 family programming woven throughout.

Highlights include a 100th-birthday John Coltrane tribute by Marcus Elliott and Kris Johnson, a bilingual concert by Latin GRAMMY-winning 123 Andrés, and an evening with the singular My Brightest Diamond. You can also catch a sensory-friendly Telegraph Quartet concert, Latin jazz with Aguankó, Detroit Square Dance, house music with Dames Brown, puppet adventures for families, and two community storytelling events exploring youth housing insecurity.

Ypsilanti Resident priority access is now open! Tickets go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, August 11. Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or ideas to feature these artists and events.
