The moderated panel discussion will feature H. David Humes, M.D., the 2026 Distinguished University Innovator of the Year, alongside his colleagues and commercialization partners. This year’s panelists include:

To kick off this session, Dr. Humes will present on the scientific, clinical, regulatory and financing challenges that nearly stopped development of the selective cytopheretic device. He'll discuss what kept the technology moving forward and what FDA approval now means for patients. The presentation will be followed by a discussion with Dr. Humes, Eric Schlorff and Dr. Lenar Yessayan on what it took to move the discovery from the lab to FDA approval and a publicly traded company. The conversation will also look ahead to what's next as the technology expands to new patient populations and regions around the globe.
